something to ponder on:

let us first see this one,
in college as a student we have coursework as an assessment..
we will try the best we can to get and to score the maximum marks,
we will make an extra effort to find out anything that will increase the marks,
we always wish to get the highest mark among others,
even if the attendance for the-long-boring lecture which only count for 1 percent we will come over..
because we want to get the free bonus..

then lets see this one,
in life as a servant of Allah we have duties as our religious practices (’ibadah) which includes many from the moment we wake up in the morning until the time we go to sleep at night including all the five pillars of Islam..
let say we want to perform the solat,
if we perform the solat alone, the pahala is only 1 times,
if we perform the solat together (jemaah), the pahala will be 27 times more,
especially for solatul isyak and solatus subh, another extra pahala we will get..
yes it is a bonus, and also free of charge..

so are we struggling for both dunya wa akhirah? or just one of them?
